Your outdoor furniture is undoubtedly a most attractive aspect of your overall home design which, as compared to interior furniture, needs more safety and protection. Your lovely deck, gorgeous patio, and even the garden bench, all of them meant to be safeguarded. So how exactly you’re going to do it? How much effort will it take? Do you need the professional experts to take care of your lavish outdoor furniture? 1. The type of wood you choose really matters
As outdoor wood furniture packages can be quite costly, you need to ensure that you have chosen a right type of wood which is naturally less prone to outdoor effects like sun-shine and damp. The most common wood types you get to find in the market are oak, pine, and teak. So before you choose any of these, ask for something which requires lower amount of maintenance. 2. Clean Your Wood Furniture Before you start cleaning your valuable furniture, ensure to mix the recommended type of wood cleaner in water bucket. In order to get it damp, spray it down in a proper manner and wash the piece down with a soft scrub brush. Within its comparison to rag, use of scrub brush can easily get into the grooves in the wood to confiscate buildup. Throughout the procedure, take care to get into both, bottom and underneath areas. Once done, rinse of all the areas to take out the cleaner. 3. Let it properly dry Once the cleaning process is done, let your furniture get thoroughly dry. As the remaining damp can lead to harmful moisture which will seep into the wood and can cause the problems like mold and rot. Use clean rags to wipe down the furniture and then place it under the sun. Let it be laid under the sun for entire day to get it completely dry. 4. Apply Oil onto the surface When the furniture is completely dry, take the suggested oil and rub onto the entire surface to condition the wood which will give it added protection. Please make sure that, throughout the oiling process, there is no crevice left untouched, let the oil be applied on all the cleft parts. Then again, after applying the oil, let it soak into the furniture for some hours. Then use another clean rag and wipe of any surface. 5. Get your furniture inspected periodically & check the hardware parts As outdoor furniture package is a costly deal, you are advised to periodically take care of it. Check all the hardware part on your outdoor wood furniture and get all the screws and brackets fixed, if loosen or broken, or get the new parts fixed if any of those lost. You have to practice this procedure at least once in a month and seen if there is any loose wood that requires repair like your ties or slats. 6. Give it a proper cover protection Outdoor wood furniture is not always in use. When you are out of home or when it is not needed, you can give a favor to it by making it wear covers which sometime, might seem to be little more absurd but it will wonderfully help the extend the life of your favorite furniture (which you love most). If you leave it alone, its elements will annihilate the wood very quickly, especially under the rainy season when the water gets seeped into the wood and leads to severe rot and mold then the sun makes it dry out and cause it to turn faded and become frail. Best of Luck!
