Unconditional security on the object - whether it is a resident or commercial real estate, closed or open territory - is difficult to provide without the use of video surveillance systems. And although their design, choice of components and installation require certain knowledge and experience, but still installation of video surveillance for a private houses with your own hands is possible. Consider the main technical points and use this tips that will help you in creating a video control system.
Installation of a video surveillance system by your own hands The installation of security cameras with your own hands is preceded in any case by the design, during which the future architecture of the system is determined, its capacity taking into account possible scaling, including the amount of data storage and the speed of its reading / writing (HDD or SSD in RAID, RAM, ADC, processor ), whether it will be built on the basis of a computer (server) or without it - NVR, HDVR, stand alone DVR or non-PC. Then, the viewing angles, illumination, temperature regime are calculated, appropriate lenses and other components of the video surveillance system are selected, which must necessarily be compatible. If necessary, a night illumination scheme is designed. Choose the location of cameras, power supplies and cable routes that should not be closer to power cables (lighting, power lines, etc.) closer than 30-40 cm in order to avoid interference and ideally not parallel with them. In general, if it is a matter of street surveillance, it is important to prepare a grounding and zeroing design in advance and a scheme of high-current lines, and also to prepare the best quality soldering materials and connectors (connectors, adapters, etc.) - this will help prevent or eliminate possible interference and potential difference . The power supply of CCTV cameras and the whole system as a whole is the most important moment, for the solution of which separate cables may be required. Such brands as SHVVP, are selected individually for the installation of coaxial cable, for example, RG-59. When choosing a twisted pair, it is important to relate the diameter of the section, the length of the cable, and the impedance. In the calculations, the current value is recommended to be used "with a margin", overestimating it by 15-25%, because the camera manufacturers often underestimate the current consumed by them, and the manufacturers of power supplies - on the contrary - overestimate the power of their devices. Considering that up to two thirds of all breakdowns in video surveillance systems are connected with power supplies, it is impossible to save money on this issue. In the selection of the power supply unit, not everything is determined by the voltage (constant - 12V / 24V, or alternating - 24V / 220V), power and total (including peak values) by the current required to power the video cameras connected to it. The power supply unit must be equipped with a mains filter, which guarantees a stable supply of rated voltage, and must be able to carry a large capacitive, inductive and reactive load on long lines (if it is not a flat, but a country house). The best option would be specialized switching power supplies. For "summer" year-round video surveillance, it is better to use a centralized uninterruptible power scheme. Power units located on the street during the cold season tend to quickly fail and malfunction, and the heating elements of the video cameras need a guaranteed power supply, in addition, you must not allow the power supply to the DVR. Before choosing a power source, it is important to read as much as possible about this in specialized literature.
