4 Of The Best Luxury Smartwatches |
Posted: July 24, 2017 |
Luxury, high-end products haven't always gone particularly well with technology (with the obvious exception of supercars), and as a result it's not all that common to find high-end versions of our favourite gadgets. The same is true of smartwatches, which aren't by definition a luxury product. Generally it's more important that they're affordable, and functionality has generally come before style and materials. In recent years however a handful of luxury brands have been trying to change this, resulting in some higher end smartwatches that can range from a few hundred pounds to thousands. Today you actually have a reasonable amount of choice if you want your smartwatch to be a head-turning piece of luxury fashion, and I've put together 4 of my personal favourites: 1. The Apple Hermes Perhaps an obvious choice, but you can't beat the functionality of the Apple Watch and the iOS software is truly excellent. The standard Apple Watch isn't all that special considering how many people own one, but their collaboration with luxury French brand Hermes has produced a timepiece which really does meet the high-end definition. It features an exclusive dial and a stunning Hermes leather strap that would be more at home on a traditional, luxury Swiss timepiece. Retailing at £1,399 it's not cheap, but it's definitey luxury and, being an Apple Watch, performs brilliantly. 2. Montblanc Summit My personal favourite, this Android-based smartwatch features stunning Montblanc design and craftmanship, and it's much better than the e-strap they released previously to this. A fully-fledged smartwatch, it comes with several apps pre-installed, including Uber, Google Play, Google Assistant and Runtastic. It's also quite cheap compared to Montblanc's other watches, making it an appealing choice. You can pick one up for £795 in the UK. 3. Movado Connect Movado have been quite forward thinking with their line of luxury smartwatches, drawing inspiration from their high-end timepieces to produce a truly eye-catching range of devices. Revealed at Baselworld a few weeks ago, these smart Movado watches feature Android Wear 2.0 and come in a range of stunning minimalistic designs. The Connect devices start at £399, making them the most affordable option in this list. 4. Bulgari Diagono Magnesium I absolutely love this watch from Bulgari, and they've really gone the extra mile to make their smartwatch feel like a luxury timepiece. Featuring an automatic movement, ceramic bevel and magnesium case, it boasts genuine luxury heritage. You'd be forgiven for thinking it's not a smartwatch, given the analogue dial and fully mechanical movement, but it comes with full NFC capabilities and a range of clevel functionality. It's not cheap though, and will set you back £2,495.
