Probrand had reported that the calls made to the company during the first week of the year 2019 were up above 47%, having most calls coming from workers who seemed to have forgotten their password over Christmas break and required help for resetting it.
10 Funniest IT support calls for the year 2019
- A user who has broken his laptop and wants to replace the screen before any colleagues sees it.
- An anxious caller advised that their laptop was full of virus and of no use anymore. It became clear that they were using their office laptop to watch X-rated videos at home.
- An embarrassed user who is in need of help to unlink their company cloud from their work phone since personal photos has been mixed with official files.
- One important business client had called to report that they had lost their internet connection. Then after sending a team of engineers, it had been found that the Internet was down since an employee in business’ finance team was cancelling the BT line in order to save £20 each month. This cost business thousands in terms of revenue and took nearly two weeks for getting back online.
- The corporate network had not been working many times with servers going offline. According to investigation done from Probrand engineers, it had been found that someone had cut through, repaired and the main power lead for supporting the servers. After that, they had repaired it with a part particularly designed for gaffer tape and domestic use. Nobody seemed to come forward to take up the responsibility for wiring disaster.
- The IT helpdesk had accepted a call saying that an office printer was found defective. After being discussed about some troubleshooting by the team, it turned out that it was not clued-up.
- One caller reported, ‘I can’t view websites as ads keep getting in the way’ – these had just been web pop-ups that they needed to be closed.
- A recent call about a damaged PC went along the lines of, ‘My PC won’t work, it just won’t login’. The IT helpdesk had tried to talk with the user through some basic fixes, even though the user failed to find his PC tower unit that was there below his desk.
- A London based IT support user who had apparently ‘broken’ IT network of their company but had just turned WiFi off.
- A user who could not hear or see anything what was happening on their laptop. When sending for an engineer, it had been discovered that the user was unconsciously turning the screen’s brightness off and muting the speakers.
Thus, these are some comical instances of IT support calls in London everyone should know.
