Heating Refrigerant Absorption Heat Pumps utilize a controlled propane or natural gas flame to heat a refrigerant solution, generally ammonia and water. When the heat is imposed in the closed chamber carrying refrigerant, its boils out of the pot and subsequently the pressure rises. Heat Extraction Afterwards, heat is extracted from the condensed vaporized refrigerant. This extracted heat is then pulled down by low pressure into an evaporator where it eliminates the heat from the outdoor atmosphere. It is similar to what a refrigerator does from its interior. With this process, the refrigerant gets re-vaporize. Mixing refrigerant into water The re-vaporized refrigerant is combined again with leftover water from the original flame-heating chamber. This water has flown through a separate pipe in a low-pressure heat exchanger—"absorber" Chemical Reaction With repetitive mixture of water in solution with the ammonia, a chemical reaction takes place. It generates heat, which is then transferred to the heading output of unit. Final Stage The ammonia mixed solution get backs to the first chamber where it is all set to be re-heated. And the whole process starts all over again. Advantages of Absorption Heat Pumps Gas-fired heat pumps have great advantages over traditional home heating devices. Firstly, they utilize clean-burning natural gas instead of needing electricity produced by coal-burning power plants. Secondly, they operate on no-freon kind of refrigerants unlike traditional electric heat pumps. They eliminate the need of spending hefty amount on purchase of separate air conditioner.
