Single sex classroom consists of students of one gender, either male or female. There are two kinds of schooling system being practiced all over the world depending upon the socio-geographic conditions. These classrooms have some advantages and disadvantages as well. Single sex classroom has either boys or girls; this sameness is referred to as homogeneous environment. All the students are same and they feel free and happy. They feel secure and comfortable in single sex classroom.
The students of single sex class are more confident. They can freely communicate and share their ideas and thoughts.
Students from single sex classroom are close to each other and they have very strong friendship bonds. They feel comfortable with their class fellows. They are lifelong friends and help each other in difficult times.
All students are equal and no one feels left out because of gender discrimination. All the students treat each other equally and enjoy each other’s company. Students understand each other’s views and perspectives. They regard each other.

When single sex students have to move to heterogeneous environment, they feel discomfort and difficulty in adjusting with opposite gender. These students feel difficulty at work places where both genders are working together. They find it difficult to make friends at work places.
The single sex students lack confidence in co-education or in places where both genders are present. They feel panic when opposite gender is around them. They feel distant and aloof and try to stay away from opposite gender.
The students from single sex system feel difficulty in developing friendships with opposite gender. They feel worried and apprehensive in the presence of opposite gender. They prefer to avoid them in some cases.
The students from single sex system possess discriminatory attitudes towards opposite gender. They don’t understand each other’s perspectives and thoughts. They don’t regard and care for each other. They don’t have experience to work collectively which is why they hold gender discrimination.
Students from single sex system feel difficulty in communicating with other gender. They can’t express themselves freely to opposite gender. They have to face problems in mixed gender environment. These were some of the advantages and disadvantages of single sex class systems. This varies from case to case. It is not necessary that students from single sex system face problems in heterogeneous environment and vice versa.
